Twenty-first century technology applied to traditional farming can raise community incomes, improve yields and products, and sustain the rural environment.  With this goal, the Precision Agriculture Initiative for India has been organized to apply the capabilities of new agricultural sciences and information technologies to sustain and advance traditional farming.  We recognize that recent advances in electronic imaging, information processing and precision agricultural management can now be applied at many levels of rural development.  Building on these new capabilities, the PAII focuses on India to bring about a new “green revolution” based on information and knowledge instead of machines, chemicals and specialized crops.
